Who are NCHS students?

As part of our accreditation process for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, we maintain an updated "Vision of the Graduate." This document serves as an aspirational framework for who we want our students to be post-secondary and beyond.

Our vision has four primary characteristics:

heading

Flexible and adaptable thinkers step outside of their comfort zone, seek new opportunities, and take responsibility for their own learning. They are resilient, persevere. They take risks to build resilience through setbacks, overcome obstacles to improve outcomes, embrace difficulty and make mistakes. They can willingly engage in problem solving, inquiry, and designing solutions.

heading

Someone who is life ready is a well rounded, independent, self directed learner. They have the base foundational skills to achieve their goals and apply these skills to real life situations, make healthy choices, and are the architects of their own success. They evaluate, synthesize, and can apply a mastery of the fundamentals of disciplines and ability to multiple disciplines or challenges.

heading

“Good people” have empathy for others and the trust and sensitivity to share their knowledge and skills with others as well as the compassion for themselves to allow for their own happiness. They can give, receive, and process feedback academically, personally and socially.
